Sound Off in the SF Chronicle Probate sales vs. Others
March 21st, 2016 I don’t know why but the Chronicle keeps printing my opinions!
Q: What’s different about selling a home out of probate?
A: Having a death in the home can turn people off from a sale entirely. These days, in society, people really have a hard time getting their heads around the fact that somebody died in a house. I’ve had people really fall in love with a property, but I have to disclose that there was a death there, and when I do, their faces just drop.
People always think that probate sales take much longer than regular sales because, in many instances, they have to go through court, and that can take an extra 30 days. But as slowly as some lenders are moving these days, I’m seeing regular sales take even longer.
